Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the Missionary Disciple Program?

The Missionary Disciple Program begins with fundraising in March (part-time, not in residence) and extends fifteen months on-site from June through August of the following year.

Do I need to fundraise?

Yes. Each missionary is expected to fundraise to cover the cost of their living expenses. Support covers missionary stipend, food, lodging, and ministry-related expenses. The Missionary Disciple Program includes fundraising training and consistent coaching from marketing and sales professionals affiliated with Santiago Retreat Center.

How many Missionary Disciples are accepted each year?

Santiago Retreat Center has a goal of approximately 10 full-time Missionary Disciples per cycle.

What are the accomodations?

Missionary Disciples live in community at Santiago Retreat Center, with individual rooms for sleeping. There is also access to a full service kitchen and food preparation area.

How old are Missionary Disciples?

Missionary Disciples are young adults aged 18-24. Missionaries must be high school graduates in order to apply. Santiago Retreat Center will consider exceptions.

Can you take classes or hold a part-time job while a Missionary Disciple?

The Missionary Disciple program is a full-time commitment once Missionary Disciples arrive on-site in June. Although we will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis, Missionary Disciples are expected to participate fully in the life of the Santiago Retreat Center.

Can I visit Santiago Retreat Center if I'm interested in becoming a Missionary Disciple?

If you're in the area, then yes! To arrange a visit, please email this year's Missionary Disciple Outreach Coordinator, Ruby, at ruby@santiagoretreatcenter.org.
