Shroud Center of Southern California

Journey on a Pilgrimage of Hope at Santiago Retreat Center
Ready for an experience that will challenge your mind and touch your soul? The Shroud Center of Southern California invites you to a unique interactive docent led exhibit that probes the mysteries of the Shroud of Turin.

This ancient linen cloth, bearing the striking image of a crucified man, has captivated the world for centuries. Is it a medieval forgery, or could it truly be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth? You be the judge. We'll present the cutting-edge scientific research surrounding the Shroud, letting you weigh the evidence for yourself.

Beyond the scientific debate, the Shroud has inspired a rich spiritual tradition. Discover the captivating history of the Devotion to the Holy Face, a practice that invites deep reflection on Christ's suffering. How might this ancient devotion speak to you today? We'll explore its roots in early Christianity, its connection to the Shroud, and the meaning of the Holy Face Medal, approved by Pope Pius XII in 1958.

This is more than an exhibit; it's a journey of hope. A journey into history, into science, and perhaps, into the depths of your own beliefs. Don't miss this chance to personally engage with one of the world's most fascinating artifacts.

Can we see the face of the invisible God? Do we know what our Savior looked like? The film The Face of Jesus explores two acheiropoietic images—sacred cloths not made by human hands—the Shroud of Turin and the Veil of Manoppello, as well as the most extraordinary depiction of Jesus painted by human hands: the Vilnius image of the Merciful Jesus. Filmmakers take the audience on a cinematic journey to the tomb in Jerusalem from 2,000 years ago, to Rome, Manoppello, and San Giovanni Rotondo, to discover what our Savior looked like. After the main feature, learn about the devotion to the Holy Face with a bonus featuring U.S. clergy who detail the power of the ancient devotion and why it’s gaining traction among the faithful in modern times.
